It's not a Super Bowl rematch from 2015-16. Still, Seattle and New England will battle it out to crown a 2024 Major League Rugby champion, concluding an 18-week regular season and a single-elimination tournament that began July 20.
Over the past two weeks, the Seawolves and Free Jacks embarked on grueling postseason runs. They were earned. The Free Jacks knocked off D.C., 33-29, while Seattle knocked off championship site host San Diego, 33-26, in the conference semifinals.
By championship weekend, it was down to the final four teams. Chicago had downed New Orleans one week prior in a 45-21 win and was opposite the Free Jacks, while Dallas had narrowly defeated Houston 34-22.
New England advanced to the title game with a 23-17 win against Chicago, while Seattle escaped with a 28-25 win against Dallas.
